Most of us have our favourite websites we regularly visit for news, information, socialising etc as it is well designed, easy to navigate around and has a good structure.
We also come across many badly designed websites which we visit once and never return as it is either too messy, hard to navigate around or just an absolute eyesore.
To make sure you are fully clued up on how a website should look, we at Sizzle Media have come up with some handy hints for you to bear in mind when it comes to corporate web design.

Incorrect use of colour
Massive sin when it comes to web design as it is easy to see when someone is trying too hard to get your attention when the background colour of their website is scrolling past you in all the colours of the rainbow. However, many people think that the rainbow consists of luminous shades instead of pastel colours, which is definitely an eyesore to any visitor.
Unnecessary flashing icons and banners
A massive turn off for any site, trust us! If you need to say, ‘click here’ in an annoying manner then your banner or advert really isn’t strong enough to get anyone to ‘click there.’
Words matter the most
People find your website though search engines like Google through words that come up in search engine results. Banners don’t appear in search results and neither do promotional visuals so make sure you have good content on each of your web pages.
Display the words in the best way possible
Ensure that it is readable and customers understand it. Don’t attempt to fit too much copy onto one web page as customers will get bored. Don’t use hard to read fonts or all capitalised text as it sounds like you are shouting and will annoy your visitors.
Don’t confuse your visitors
This is the last thing your website should do. Graphics are important on a website but they should never take the place of words. If your site relies heavily on graphics you run the risk of not appearing in any of the Google search results.
Secondly if the graphics aren’t clear then your visitor may get frustrated and may move onto another site to find the information they want.
Bad or non-existant navigation
Massive sin to commit if you don’t get this right. If you want people to stay on your site don’t try and achieve it by letting them get lost in it.
As you increase the pages on your site make sure they can always link back to the home page or find other ways to get back to previous and new pages.
Designing it with you in mind
One of the biggest problems that many websites have is that the website is designed with the designer in mind. You are creating the website for the attention of potential customers and clients so keep this in mind throughout the design process.
